I often get asked by people, how I keep my eyeliner under the eyes from smudging and how does my eyeliner stay on the entire day. You can stop your Kohl from smudging around your eyes by following these simple tricks.
1. Use Gel Liners and Wax Based Liners: The first and most important step is to choose the right kind of eyeliner. Gel liners are a boon to kohl lovers who love lining their lower lash line. They hardly smudge and they stay on for a long time. Wax liners come in pencil form and they too stay on for a long time and they are much blacker(darker) than gel liners, but I find that they need constant sharpening and last me for hardly 20 days. Gel liners on the other hand, lasts me for over 4 months. Hence, I prefer gel liners on a daily basis and wax liners for those special days. My favorite gel liner is, Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eye Liner and my favorite wax liner is Revlon Colorstay One stroke Defining Eyeliner.
2. Don't just line your water line, line your lower lash line: The best eyeliners in the world will not stay on your waterline for more than 2 hours. The reason is simple, water lines are... well... watery, which is not exactly eyeliner friendly. And also, we blink our eyes at least once in 10 seconds. Imagine being under water for the entire day, would you expect your makeup to stay on? No right? Thank god we are not Ariel, though I would love to be her. Anyways, if you want you kohl to stay for the entire day, start with lining your waterline then line you lower lash line using thin strokes. If you don't know what lower lash line is: its the area just below you lower lashes and waterline is the line above your lower lashes.
3. The powder trick: If you tend to get oily under the eyes, its a good habit to dab on mattifying powder under the liner to make sure your liner doesn't smudge.
4. The mascara trick on the lower lashline: I have discovered that using mascara on the lower lash line helps in keeping my eyeliner intact for the entire day. The days I use mascara, I find that my eye liner hardly ever budges out of its place. I think its to do with the drying formula of the mascara. So, if you have an important date and don't want your liner to move out of its place, then apply generous amounts of mascara on your lower lash line.
Use these tricks and you can be rest assured to never suffer from raccoon eyes. Unless that's the look you are going for.
Hope this helped,
