If there is one trend that never grows old on me, it has to be the crop top. They are cute, they are peppy, they are the ones you reach out for when you want to look effortlessly chic. They are quintessential and represent our generations attitude towards fashion in similar ways that dark lips represents makeup. We don’t care what you think when we wear crop tops. In fact we dont care at all.
They have been around for 2 years now and I don’t think they are going anywhere anytime soon. To be fair, Indian culture has had crop tops since saree, we just call them by a different name – blouse[although our moms would disagree when they see us wearing it with anything but a saree]. There are quite literally 20 different ways in which you can style a crop top to suit your mood – You want to feel elegant, wear it with a long flowy skirt in royal blue tones; you want to feel sexy, pair it with a skater mini skirt; you want to still wear a crop top when you dont have that modelesqe wash-board tummy? Wear a lose crop top with palazzos or coulettes; you dont want to splurge on a crop top but still want to wear them? Simple, just tie up your button down shirt mid-rib. As I said there is a crop top to suit every mood of yours no matter what size you fall in. You just need the right attitude.
Speaking of right attitude, I recently ordered Kylie Lipkit in Dark of Knight – thats the jet black one. I can’t wait to see how it looks on me! More relatively, will it go with a crop top? Lets wait and watch. I have styled crop tops on GJ before, you can check it out here and here. In this post, I am styling one crop top 2 different ways.
Ways to Wear a Crop Top – with a Formal Pant:
Did I mention that you can pair your crop top with formal pants? Of course you can. As odd as the pairing sounds, its the perfect ensemble if you are going to a high street event where you are expected to be formal but chic. The trick is to choose the right pairing. It always helps to keep the colors monotone to keep certain aspects of the outfit simple. Here I have paired a tight white crop top with a pair of formal pants which has this interesting flare thing happening at the hips – this helps neutralize the sharp cuts of the rest of the outfit.
Ways to Wear a Crop Top – with a Leather Skirt:
A-line skirts are in general quite easy to style. Here I have paired this leather skirt with the crop top. Again, I have kept the colors monotone – I love my blacks and whites.
