I am sharing a life-altering DIY with you today – How to fix scratched shoe heels with glitter.
The other day, I was spring cleaning my shoe closet[which is basically a clutter] and came across these beautiful black, semi-bootish gladiators which I used to love. I wondered why I had stopped wearing them and turned them around to find the reason sticking out like a sore wound – the super high heels were all scratched and scuffed – like a cat had chewed on them.
Indian roads are not exactly stiletto friendly. One crazy night in town can leave your heels all scratched and scuffed. I have some 5 beautiful super high heels I am not using because of ugly scratches on them.
Not anymore I decided.
A difficult solution for dexterous people: I searched the internet for a solution and came across this: you need glue, glitter, scotch-tape and dexterity[which I lack]. Basically, you have to scotch tape parts of the shoes on which you don’t want glitter, paint the heels with glue and dip the heels in glitter and wait for it to dry. Then you have to take off the scotch tape from the rest of the shoes. Sounded like an awesome solution. But, as I mentioned, I am really not dexterous. I was sure that if I tried doing that, I would end up getting glitter everywhere and most definitely ruin my shoes and my clothes. Plus, I dint have glitter, scotch or glue at home and I was in no mood to get out of my pajamas to go to the nearest stationary.
An easier Fix: So I came up with this alternate solution – using glitter nail paint instead of scotch, glue and glitter! This method not only involves less products but it really doesn’t require you to be crafty. Win!
How to fix scratched shoe heels with glitter:
You need: Shoes with scratched heels[obviously] and glitter nail paint which is of the same
color as the shoes you want to fix.
I am using: Maybelline colorshow glittermania in starry nights[review here] to fix my black heels.
How to: Taking a scissors cut away any material/textile hanging out of the heels. Try to get the surface of the heels as flat as possible.
Once you have a flat surface, start painting your heels with your glitter nail paint. Keep layering the paint until all scratches are covered and you are left with smooth, glittery heels. Let it dry for 10 minutes and coat the heels with more nailpaint – this is to ensure an even smoother surface.
Once you have finished painting your heels, let the heels dry in your room for a day. Don’t try using the shoes before the heels are completely dry or you may end up smudging the nail-paint.
And voila, your shoes just got a new life. What are you waiting for? Go fix you heels today.
I hope this helped,
